First week of a new job

Well I survived my first week. I have started a job working with an optometrist. It is so different than what I'm used to. (Obviously!!) But everything about it is different. Even with the patients. I cannot call them by their first name. The Dr thinks its not professional. OK - that's fine but its something I need to get used to. Scheduling patients is different too...there are certain "slots" you put people in. And that depends on age, different types of appointments and what the Doctor wants. Being the new girl stinks too!! I do not mind doing the crap jobs but I am used to fairness. Everyone helps out but again, its all new now.

I am thinking about going back to school too. I am struggling with this because I know I want to get into the medical field but do I want to be a Medical Assistant? Or do I want to get into the Billing and Coding? Or do I want to get into more of the X-ray side of things? I don't know. I thought I knew but so many things have come up since I went to a school earlier this week. Do I base my decision on money or do I base it on something I'll be good at? Who knows! Why is it that decisions are so hard?! I need to do my research - put everything on the table and go from there. That's all I can do and hope that it is the right decision.

I enjoy being off Sundays and Mondays now though. Marcus is off on Mondays so we are able to have a day together which is something new for us but I know we will enjoy it.

I want to travel!!

I love finding new places to visit. I wish my job was literally to do just that: TRAVEL!!! Every year Marcus and I have 2 vacations. I really like doing it that way because it breaks out the year so well.

Last year I went to Cape Cod - Marcus had to work - and in September we went to Chicago. I really loved both vacations. I've been to the Cape before but this time was a bit different because we stayed over and rented a house. It was right on the lake and it was GREAT! Very calming and everything was so close.

Chicago was really nice too. We broke up the trip a bit by going to Green Bay first which was AMAZING!! Marcus is a HUGE Packers fan so for him, this was his dream!

There are a lot of places I would love to go just for a week:

Italy - I would love to take in the sites there. And of course the spaghetti!

France - I've heard mix reviews about France. I think it would be absolutely beautiful though.

Bermuda - OH doesn't this picture just look amazing! RE-LAX-ATION! Bring it on!!

San Francisco - I was there when I was little but I don't remember much about it at all. And I think it would be great to sing the Full House theme song while crossing the bridge...DON'T MAKE FUN! I know you would do it too!!

VEGAS!! Again, I was there when I was 15 so I was not allowed to do ANYTHING!! I couldn't even stand on a certain part of the carpet!! I really want to go but  I COULD NOT bring much money!! I might have a bit of an issue with gambling!?!

So I guess I should put my resume out and see if people would hire me to go to these places! I'll get right on that.

The Adventures of Cali and Krista

As you grow older you need family but you really need friends.

I feel that even though I have a good handful of BEST friends, I feel like each one of them are good for me for different reasons.

Cali is one of the handful - she is hilarious, smart, easy going, spontaneous and so much more! Right now she lives in North Carolina and going to Law School. It is very hard for a friend to be so far away but for us...it works! (But I cannot wait for her to come home and STAY!!)

Well when she comes home from school I try to see her as much as I can. We go on "adventures" which really can be anything. We have just drove around, or headed to Bloom to do some shopping for her mom, or our absolute favorite past time - IKEA!!!!

We never really buy anything when we go there but we enjoy just going to take pictures or get ideas for our lavish futures. But most of the time, Cali appreciates the children's section and the candles!

'

Well tonight we are going to have another adventure and it will be the last one of the winter until she comes home again. The great thing about Cali is that we never have to say "goodbye" to each other - we always just pick up where we left off.

I came, I conquered, I quit

Today was my last day at City Center Apartments. I have worked there since September 29, 2008.

When I got there the place was "sticks". Everything that was placed in the buildings, I saw go up and it was such an experience.

I have mixed emotions about leaving today. I was really excited to put in my notice. I feel like it was time for me to go. Things were happening with the company, things were happening with the property, and things ARE happening with me. I know it was the right decision. Today I do have to admit I was sad. 3 years is a long time. I grew so much. I got engaged while working there, I got married while working there, my husband and I got a dog, a home...I really have changed. I think thats what makes me sad. I know that things will be better and I will be happier but you can't help but get a bit emotional. I have made such great friends there that I know will last a lifetime.

Things that have made me laugh today

I love a good laugh and I would like to share some with you now!!

At first glance - hilarious!! First of all, the girl on the right doesn't look like a badass...she knows that in 15 years this photo will be on a site like awkward family photo and she is already hearing the jokes being made. But take another look:

What is Dad doing here? Is he trying to get his muscles (or lack there of) to pop out or is he giving his wife a hint?!

If my parents told me that this is what we were doing for our Christmas card - I'd lose it! But I'd want to be the Christmas tree! Sweet shoes!

I had to look at this twice at this - He is holding his shoes!!

Not sure if you guys have seen damnyouautocorrect.com but it is hilarious!

Things I love

Life in general is a bit boring. Maybe my life at times can be a bit boring. I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting older. Maybe it's because I don't like to drink as much. Well what if it's because I don't have as much money to be able to do the things to keep me busy but whatever it is...I find ways to have fun and keep me busy.

  •  Pinterest - this website is amazing! I highly recommend it to anyone that likes EVERYTHING! I have found recipes that I have tried, DYI crafts that I have tried, holiday ideas that I cannot wait to try next year and so much more. If you aren't into the whole craft/cooking thing, they have professional photographs and tutorials, pictures of pets, humor and more. The only thing is you can't just sign up. You need an invite from someone who already has it. (Let me know if you want one and I'll send it your way!!)
  • Tumblr - yes it is kind of like blogspot but a bit different. It has quicker blogs but you can put anything on there: videos, to GIFs, to crafts. I don't post on there that much but it is a great website to check out different things that are in the news and such. You do not need an invite but you do need to sign up to be able to look at most things. My favorites are: losingweightinthecity (she used to be over weight and now she is running marathons - she is very positive and a great influence to someone who is trying to lose weight.) marthasworstnightmare (very crafty and about good food.) theclearlydope (they are hilarious! they put up a lot of videos about news or random videos from youtube)
  • Youtube - yes, I know you have heard of it. but I love the fact that I can put in "laughing baby" and have TONS of videos for hours.
  • facebook - again, I'm sure you know about it. It has its ups and downs. Yes, I love to reconnect with old friends and it is great to see family you can't see all the time but I hate the way it changes all the time. Why can't they leave it the way it is and let us "play". Some of the time the change isn't bad but once you get used to one way - it changes! It's hard to keep up
I also like to do my crafts - when I'm in the mood but I have occasionally started a project and not finished. It is either I don't like the way it looks or I get bored of it. :) So then I just start all over again with the websites!

Other things I love are these little ones! I am introducing my nephew and niece! They were both born last year and growing like weeds. I am so happy they are in my life!

Oh yes - how can I forget?

I am now a Scentsy rep. I really enjoy selling a product that is useful, great quality and smells amazing!! Please let me know if you would like to host a party, order product or just want some information. I will randomly post some info about it but I will not over load it! I do not like that so I won't do it to you!!

BUT:

January's scent of the month is "LINGER" It smells amazing. If I was to describe it I would say its a sweet pea with clean sheets. Its really nice. Please let me know if you want a sample of it.

Bad dinner...

I was so excited to make a parmesan crusted chicken. I have had the recipe for a couple of days now and it looks so good! UNFORTUNATELY it did not turn out the way that I wanted.

Parmesan Crusted Chicken
This is what it is supposed to look like...
The recipe says to water the chicken and take the cracker/cheese mix and get it coated. I did that. Then it says to put it on a pan with olive oil at medium heat. I did that. Then it says to leave the chicken on the pan without turning it for at least 5-7 minutes. I did that. Then why did all of the crackers come off? I flipped it once. Then noticed it was not 100% done so I flipped it 1 more time. Then it all fell off!! What did I do wrong? It was like plain chicken!! It was so frustrating that I stopped cooking. I didn't want anything to do with it! PLEASE - if you know what I did wrong, I want to know!! I really want to do this recipe again but if I cannot get it right, I don't want to waste food again!!

On a good note, I made a wonderful breakfast for Marcus and I today! Simple but very good. Garlic/cheese eggs, sausage, and English muffins.

Today is a very cold day but I really want to take Duncan out and walk around. I don't think we will get this "semi-nice" weather for much longer.

One more thing - a couple of prayers would be nice for my Oma. She is not doing the best right now and is saying she is very tired and ready to go. As a grand daughter - there is nothing I can really do or say to change her mind. She is 90 years old...she has lived an amazing life and has been able to share her life story to anyone that would listen. If it is her time, I hope and pray it is a quick and peaceful death.

Happy New Year!

2012!! WOW! I think every year I say "I can't believe it is another year....it went by so fast." Nothing seems to slow down. As a child I would always think that I would never get to 13...16....18...21. Now I am dreading getting older! Give me a couple of years!!

I really enjoyed my New Years this year. It was just Marcus and I at the house. Very relaxed. I think I had 3 wardrobe changes - ending in my PJs and slippers! No driving and we could drink as much as we wanted. I made some appetizers for us that were pretty good!

Shredded chicken, cream cheese, garlic powder wrapped in a crescent roll.
Beer battered cheese dip - ranch and peppers

Even though it was just us, I loved being able to do this stuff. And I enjoyed cooking something different.

So for dinner I made steak and asparagus...which is our favorite!! It was very good!

We did however make it to 12. We might have a had a bit more to drink that we should have but hey, we were home and we didn't go anywhere!! After we made our phone calls, we feel right to sleep! It was such a long night!! :) Again - getting old!! ha

I don't have any resolutions though. I want/need to quit smoking, I want to take the time for writing on here more (not that I have many readers!), I want to do more DIY crafts and take more pictures. But I figured, if I call it a resolution, I don't do it!! So those are things I want for 2012 and I hope I keep all of them!

Happy New Year!
